Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez are showing us that old friendships can be rekindled. These two celebrities who used to star on the Disney Channel have grown even closer following years of speculation about their relationship, according to Life & Style magazine.

At the 2025 Oscars, it’s been revealed that Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez spent a considerable amount of time together. They hit it off quite nicely, largely due to the fact that their significant others, Maxx Morando and Benny Blanco respectively, shared many common interests. As a result, the quartet is now organizing a friendly double date at Selena and Benny’s residence, with the pair themselves preparing dinner for the occasion.

Initially, there were speculations about a rivalry between Miley and Selena, particularly during their teenage phase. The whispers started when they both dated Nick Jonas. Miley was in a relationship with him from 2006 to 2008, while Selena began dating Nick shortly after in 2008, but the pair split up the following year.

The friendship between them experienced some turbulent periods. In the year 2014, Miley even hurled a cardboard figure of Selena from the stage during a performance. Jennifer Stone, Selena’s previous acting companion, once labeled it as “teenage drama” and claimed that it wasn’t substantial.

Regardless of their past, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez have demonstrated mutual respect and support in more recent times. As recently as 2022, Miley publicly commended Selena for her hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, and Selena humorously acknowledged during the show that Miley offered her valuable advice.

In the year 2016, Selena clarified that there was no serious dispute between us. She explained it was similar to the rumored rivalry between Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan in our teen years, as we both had feelings for the same person when we were sixteen. Now, both of us have moved on with our lives independently. Miley has been in a relationship with Maxx since 2021, while Selena became engaged to Benny towards the end of 2024. It appears that all four of us are enjoying peaceful relationships currently.
