Russell T Davies has been criticized for his overemphasis on political correctness combined with his confidence and the financial backing of Disney, which many believe has led to the significant alteration of “Doctor Who.” Now, with whispers suggesting that Season 3 may be canceled and a potential break could be imminent, it seems that termination is becoming increasingly probable.
It’s being speculated that Ncuti Gatwa may not return for Season 3, and there are whispers that Disney is pushing for a new Time Lord and the replacement of Russell T Davies as the showrunner if there indeed is a third season.
The viewership has reached an all-time low in the 60-year span of the show, and there are whispers suggesting that Doctor Who might take a break for somewhere between five and ten years.
Hiatus coming to Doctor Who?
In conversation with BBC’s Newsround, Davies subtly suggests a significant break (hiatus) is imminent, potentially ending Disney’s involvement in Doctor Who.
I believe the Doctor has become something like Robin Hood, though there may be occasional pauses in his story. In time, these pauses will pass, and the viewers of Newsround will grow older and start creating their own tales based on this character. I am confident that this concept will endure because it’s not just an idea – it’s a good one, and no good idea ever truly disappears.
Ncuti Gatwa also added, “I don’t know do you? I don’t know anything.”
Latest rumors: Disney Cuts Ties With Doctor Who
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve been hearing some intriguing whispers suggesting that Disney may have ceased negotiations with both the BBC and Neil Gaiman’s production house, Bad Wolf.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’ve heard whispers that Disney wasn’t entirely content with the first season, yet the BBC and Davies assured them things would pick up in last year’s holiday special. Regrettably, it seems we’re still grappling with the same issue of low viewership, much like the initial season.
According to reports, both the BBC and Davies reassured Disney that Season 2, due to launch on Disney+ this coming Saturday, would show improvement. But, based on current indications, it seems the outlook might not be so bright.
In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, it seems Disney and the BBC are slated for another round of talks post-Season 2, yet whispers abound that the BBC has firmly concluded that their partnership on Doctor Who with Disney has reached its end.
In simpler terms, YouTube’s Tachyon Pulse Podcast points out that since David Davis’ production company is owned by Sony, which has a strong partnership with Amazon, it is speculated (although seemingly improbable) that Amazon may be eager to acquire the entire collection of “Doctor Who” in order to potentially bring back the series. This mirrors the previous statement made about Disney.
