IndieWire unveiled the initial glimpse of its upcoming Western horror titled Eddington! The post featured an ominous poster of the film as well as a picture capturing Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal sharing the screen for the first time in a project. This unusual pairing has come together for this unique collaboration.
In the image, the actor portraying the Joker is clad in a white shirt, blue denims, and a cowboy hat. He also dons a gun holster belt that carries a weapon and a sheriff’s badge. The change in Phoenix’s appearance to a rural character is part of his portrayal as a small-town sheriff in the film.
Instead, Pascal donned a relaxed shirt and a khaki coat. It is expected that the actor from The Last of Us will portray a significant character among the town’s residents, contributing significantly to the storyline.
From my perspective, as a lifestyle connoisseur, this upcoming film unfolds a tense standoff between the town sheriff and the mayor of a quiet New Mexican town named Eddington. This conflict sets off a chain reaction, causing once peaceful neighbors to turn against each other, creating a volatile situation reminiscent of a powder keg.
The film “A24” is helmed by Ari Aster, a director renowned for movies like Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, among others. This modern Western boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring Academy Award winner Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., and Luke Grimes.
According to Variety’s report, the film is now in its post-production phase and seems to focus on a pair who find themselves stuck in a remote New Mexican town. However, things take a darker, ominous twist as the day turns into night in this small community.
The movie seems to be set amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Its title suggests it was produced in 2020, which may indicate that the storyline revolves around this worldwide health event.
The specific date when the movie Eddington will be made available has not been disclosed yet, however, its grand debut is scheduled for the commencement of the Cannes Film Festival, which is set to begin on May 13, 2025.
