SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Will Get a UK Version on Sky in 2026

For nearly 50 years, Saturday Night Live (SNL) has dominated late-night TV by offering countless sketches and iconic moments. With no signs of slowing or going off the air, it’s fitting that the show is expanding with a new international version to keep the franchise thriving. According to Deadline, SNL will soon have a UK edition, produced by Lorne Michaels.

News surfaced about a possible UK adaptation of Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2022. Since then, there’s been little to no official update regarding negotiations and the like. However, we can expect the revamped version of the renowned sketch comedy show to debut on Sky around 2026, adhering to the same format as its American counterpart. As for the cast, that information will likely be revealed later this year.

It seems almost certain that just about every guest appearing on the UK’s version of Saturday Night Live has had some connection to Doctor Who at some stage in their career. Given the prevalence of Doctor Who in British public life, it is likely that few notable figures have not been associated with the show.

Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and Sky’s Chief Content Officer, stated, “For more than five decades, ‘Saturday Night Live’ has occupied a special place in television and our shared culture, mirroring and shaping global discussions while being expertly steered by the comedic leadership of Lorne Michaels. The show has fostered and cultivated numerous comedy and musical talents throughout its history, and we are elated to collaborate with Lorne and the ‘SNL’ team to debut a British version of the program for UK viewers starting next year – straight from London on Saturday evenings.

While the action unfolds across the ocean, I’ll be here enjoying the laughs and fun that Saturday Night Live continues to serve up!
