Originally broadcasting from New York, there’s a change – we’re now live from London! It seems that the popular comedy sketch show is getting a British makeover, as confirmed by Sky Network. The project has been given the go-ahead, according to Deadline.
The upcoming adaptation is poised to be the most prominent international adaptation of the NBC show, surpassing its previous adaptations in China, Germany, Italy, and South Korea. While the network has yet to announce the cast for this new take on SNL, it’s clear that a group of well-known British comedians will undoubtedly be part of the ensemble.
The mastermind behind SNL, Lorne Michaels, will collaborate as an executive producer for the British adaptation of the show, working together with Broadway Video and Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team. In response, Cecile Frot-Coutaz, head of Sky Studios and Chief Content Officer, issued a statement to Deadline.
Saturday Night Live, for more than five decades now, has occupied a distinctive spot in television broadcasting and our societal humor, as mentioned by him. In reference to the forthcoming episode, Cecile stated that it will be shaped under the comedic tutelage of Michaels. The SNL crew has been instrumental in fostering numerous comedy and musical talents throughout their history.”

“For more than half a century, Saturday Night Live has occupied an exceptional position in television entertainment and our cultural landscape, as noted by him. In preparation for the upcoming show, Cecile shared that it will be guided comedically by Michaels. The SNL team has played a significant role in developing comedy and musical talents over the years.
I’m absolutely ecstatic to share that Sky Network is stepping up to bring an all-British spin on the hit show, aiming to replicate the same electrifying vibe for our beloved UK audience! This exciting news comes several months after the original series reached a monumental 50 seasons milestone. I can hardly contain my excitement!
50th Saturday Night Live (SNL) hosted a variety of star-studded guests in one location, including Pedro Pascal, Sabrina Carpenter, Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johansson, Amy Pohler, Tina Fey, Martin Short, Miley Cyrus, Paul McCartney, and numerous others.
Saturday Night Live, renowned among comedy enthusiasts in the UK, isn’t widely recognized across the country as a whole. However, partnering with Sky could potentially broaden its audience and viewership. Given the distinctively British sense of humor, having an entire show dedicated to it seems quite intriguing and worth tuning into.
SNL UK will premiere sometime in 2026.
