In the opening of Black Butler Season 5, entitled ‘A Butler on Fieldwork,’ the story unfolds when two hunters meet an inexplicable fate in Germany’s Werewolf’s Forest, following a confrontation with a creature shrouded in mystery. Unaware of the events, the government conceals this from the Queen, who then orders Ciel to probe the matter. As such, Ciel, Sebastian, and the Phantomhive household staff make their way close to Nuremberg.

Locals tend to steer clear of the forest, thus Sebastian navigates them towards it. However, his compass fails him inside. Unearthing a secluded female-only village, they encounter Lady Sieglinde Sullivan, the young ruler, and her butler Wolfram. Though wary and intrigued, Ciel decides to lodge at the Emerald Castle, feeling an eerie presence of supernatural forces lurking nearby.

 

In Episode 2 of Black Butler Season 5, Sieglinde grants permission for Ciel and his group to stay in the village, despite resistance from the villagers. Her cautious butler, Wolfram, will guide them towards the Emerald Castle. As darkness sets in, Ciel and Sieglinde share a meal together, providing a glimpse into her leadership within the village.

As they dine, a messenger is expected to announce a nearby encounter with a suspected werewolf. The storyline will further delve into Sieglinde’s situation while adding layers of intrigue about the mysterious deaths linked to the forest and the rumored curse. This segment may span across manga chapters 88 to 91.

Titled ‘His Butler, Alarmed’, the second episode of Black Butler Season 5 is scheduled to air in Japan on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at 11:30 pm JST, according to the anime’s official website. Keep in mind that due to time zone differences, international release times may be different.
