In my own tale, I kick off my journey with the inaugural Yaiba episode entitled ‘Encountering Yaiba.’ It starts with me honing my skills in a dense jungle. A brief moment of mock combat with a gorilla for sword training ensues, followed by an unexpected victory. However, the situation swiftly escalates when a horde of gorillas confronts me. In this challenging predicament, I, along with my father Kenjuurou and our pet tiger Kagetora, are forced to retreat and find shelter in a banana crate, which mysteriously transports us to the bustling city of Tokyo.
As Sayaka Mine greets her father Raizou, he modestly brushes off his kendo victory, expressing a desire to face Kenjuurou instead. At the airport, Kenjuurou gives Yaiba into Raizou’s care. Accompanying Sayaka to school, Yaiba comes across Onimaru, who quickly dominates him during their initial sparring match.
In Episode 2 of Yaiba, Yaiba persistently tries to antagonize Onimaru, yearning for a battle. At first, Onimaru seems uninterested, but things escalate when Shounosuke, a bird that has been following Yaiba, accidentally destroys Onimaru’s prized dovecote. Enraged, Onimaru will challenge Yaiba to a fight.
Embarrassed by Yaiba’s unorthodox sword technique, Onimaru breaks a stone lantern in annoyance. This action, however, unwittingly discloses a hidden staircase beneath his residence, leading him to an unearthed subterranean chamber concealing the mystical Wind God Sword, which was sealed away long ago.
Under the title ‘The Resurgent Wind Blade Sword,’ Yaiba Episode 2 will debut on April 12, 2025, at 5:30 pm Japanese Standard Time. This reimagined series is anticipated to span 24 to 26 episodes, broadcasting bi-weekly from Spring to Summer 2025.
Japanese viewers can tune into Nippon TV, Yomiuri TV, and various local stations to catch the broadcast, with new episodes airing each Saturday. Meanwhile, Yaiba Episode 2 will be available for streaming in Japan on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and NicoNico, as well as internationally on Bilibili, Netflix, and Hulu.
