Wicked’s Kristin Chenoweth Hints at Possible Reunion With Friend and Co-star Idina Menzel; DETAILS

Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel are arguably the most renowned duo to have performed on Broadway. In 2003, they originated the roles of Elphaba and Glinda in Wicked on Broadway, a performance that has left an indelible mark in theater history. The original musical garnered three Tony Awards, while the album of the show received a notable Grammy nomination. According to Chenoweth, there’s a possibility that fans could see them reunite on stage soon.

On the debut night of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway, a talented actress was spotted. During this event, she conversed with People Magazine, hinting at a potential collaboration with her former friend and co-star. When questioned about potentially working together again in future ventures, she playfully suggested, “I have an idea, but I can’t reveal it yet.

More recently, the pair of rising stars made brief appearances together in the movie adaptation of Wicked, featuring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. During their time in Emerald City, they shared scenes with Erivo, who was taking on the role previously played by Idina Menzel as Elphaba, and Grande, who stepped into the shoes originally filled by Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda. Fans interpreted this as a symbolic handover from the original characters to their new counterparts in the story of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch.

Initially, upon watching the film adaptation of her successful play, Chenoweth couldn’t help but express her enthusiasm online. She exclaimed, “Wow! I just watched the movie and I’m on the verge of collapse. I’ve expired, I’ve truly departed from this world. People aren’t going to be in good shape when they see this film. It is fantastic, it is exceptional.

“She highly commended the two primary actresses, the entire cast, and the director of the film, exclaiming, ‘The tale is simply captivating, and Cynthia and Ariana are exceptional. The whole ensemble is outstanding. Jon Chu hit it out of the park. I was deeply affected, teary-eyed, overjoyed, brimming with happiness. Everyone, please, do not miss seeing Wicked; you’ll be enriched.’

In the event that all goes according to plan, Wicked Part 2 will hit the screens this year. Perhaps we’ll be fortunate enough to see another guest appearance by the original Elphaba and Glinda.
