Matt Murdock Puts His Life on the Line in DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN

The first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is moving at quite a pace. There’s been plenty happening, from Daredevil’s previous confrontation with the late Muse (may he rest in Hell) to Heather’s growing relationship with the Fisks. This connection leads Heather to accept an invitation to a charity ball hosted by the Mayor and his wife. As luck would have it, she can bring a guest, and that happens to be Matt, who dislikes Wilson Fisk for understandable reasons. However, despite his animosity, Matt demonstrates his goodness by shielding Fisk from a bullet during this event.

In this episode, Matt and Heather have differing opinions regarding Fisk and his anti-vigilante stance. Matt learns that the Fisks are Heather’s patients, which prompts him to express his dislike for Fisk. Heather, on the other hand, makes it clear she isn’t fond of vigilantes, a fact that frustrates Matt, given he is Daredevil. Moreover, Matt finds it troubling that Fisk knows their relationship due to an invitation sent to his home. He likely doesn’t appreciate Fisk having his home address for any reason. Eventually, Heather asks Matt to accompany her, and after some hesitation, he agrees.

In that location, he can’t help but overhear a conversation. It turns out Vanessa is responsible for ordering Foggy’s death. Matt decides to dance with her to confront her and reveal his knowledge about her actions. However, before he can unravel the reasons behind this act, Dex appears. This individual managed to flee from a restricted area of a prison, an accomplishment that seems rather effortless for him. He’s pointing a gun directly at Wilson Fisk, which Matt manages to hear. In response, Matt springs into action and throws himself in front of Fisk, taking the bullet and sustaining grievous injuries.

Absolutely, we’re well aware that Matt Murdock isn’t going to meet his end in Daredevil: Born Again. As the primary protagonist, he still has another season ahead. It’s hard to imagine Marvel would resurrect him just to take his life so abruptly and without fanfare. However, it’s a tantalizing thought that Wilson Fisk might decide to let Murdock be for once (though we’re skeptical about that possibility).
