In ‘Welcome to the Murderous Party File 1,’ Reiko Hosho attends her uncle Goro Kiryuin’s sixtieth birthday celebration, where she catches up with her cousins and learns about the supposed suicide of her friend Mai. The incident is rumored to be a consequence of Kazuya Teshirogi’s pre-arranged marriage to Mizuho, an individual Reiko is familiar with.

Unexpectedly called to investigate a crime scene at a hotel by Inspector Kazamatsuri – amazingly it was the same location – Reiko finds Mizuho critically hurt. Just before passing out, Mizuho details her female assailant, who wore a red dress and sported a green necklace. All possible suspects are eliminated until Kageyama, Reiko’s recent butler, claims he has cracked the case.

 

Episode 2 of The Dinner Table Detective will zero in on Kageyama’s sudden emergence before Reiko, asserting his certainty about the identity of the suspect. With just 20 minutes left to crack the case, Kageyama will put forth an unconventional demand, which involves a public revelation.

The investigation delves into concealed emotions and subtle shifts among Reiko’s friends, uncovering their underlying intentions. It is expected that Kageyama will disclose the method by which the perpetrator masked themselves using Reiko’s red dress and green necklace, ultimately resolving the case and cementing the trio of Reiko, Kageyama, and Kazamatsuri as a crime-solving unit.

In Japan, the second episode of The Dinner Table Detective series, titled “Welcome to the Murderous Party File 2,” will make its premiere at midnight (Japan Standard Time) on Friday, April 11, 2025. For international viewers, expect the show to become accessible later that same day, with broadcast times tailored to suit different time zones worldwide.
