Days With My Stepsister Author Season 2 Canceled: What Went Wrong? Here’s Why The Anime Is Not Coming Back

Supporters of the anime “Days With My Stepsister” who were eagerly anticipating a second season found their hopes dashed this week, as author Ghost Mikawa clarified that no sequel has been officially approved. The uncertainty started after Mikawa’s April 1 post on X, where he revealed his new role as Executive Officer at Tailpot Co. Ltd., hinting at two upcoming projects. One of these projects was connected to “Days With My Stepsister,” causing some fans to misunderstand and think a fresh anime season had been declared.

Mikawa made clear on April 2nd that the second season of “Days With My Stepsister” anime has not yet been officially confirmed. While browsing online, he encountered a post suggesting the second season might have been announced, but this is untrue. He explained that only his company holds decision-making power regarding such matters and urged fans to maintain their support without expecting immediate results, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.

Initially, it was revealed that the first of the two anticipated unveilings was for Happy Jack, a fresh social media brand centered around anime. Their inaugural project is a brief anime titled “Do-man Bu!” which can be found on YouTube. On April 5th, the second announcement was made, introducing Mellowvoice – a new ASMR brand. In May, this brand will launch two new audio stories entitled “Days With My Stepsister” on DLsite, focusing on Saki and Akiko Ayase. These aren’t anime episodes, but voice dramas that feature the characters.

Initially released in July 2024, “Days With My Stepsister” became available on Crunchyroll for streaming. This captivating series revolves around Yuta Asamura, a high school student, and his recent stepsister Saki Ayase, as they navigate their new shared household following their parents’ remarriage. The narrative delves into the complexities of family ties and emotional detachment.

In 2021, a new light novel series began publication, overseen by Kadokawa, and now comprises 13 volumes. Simultaneously, a manga version created by Yumika Kanade is currently being serialized.

At present, there’s no definite announcement about another season of the anime. In the meantime, fans can keep showing their love for the series by engaging with its ASMR content and eagerly awaiting new updates on sites such as DLsite and YouTube.
