Once more, Sean “Diddy” Combs faces scrutiny as federal authorities have brought charges against him for a third time in the music industry. His legal representatives, Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, view these recent federal accusations as an unwarranted invasion of his personal life during an increasingly tense courtroom situation.
The latest accusation from the U.S. Attorney’s Office brings the number of criminal allegations against him up to five. This new claim implicates a fresh alleged victim, known as Victim-2, and includes charges related to human trafficking and facilitating prostitution.
As reported by Deadline, the latest indictment alleges that Combs, from 2021 to 2024, intentionally attracted, persuaded, sheltered, moved, and kept Victim-2, while also attempting to help, assist, and encourage Victim-2, knowingly or with disregard for the truth, to perform commercial sex acts. This was done despite the fact that Victim-2 was engaged in these activities through force, deceit, or manipulation.
Diddy’s legal team has shown firm opposition, labeling the fresh allegations as an attempt to make criminal what are essentially consensual intimate connections and private sexual activities. A spokesperson for his lawyers downplayed the accusations as outdated claims from former partners and affirmed that these relationships were marked by mutual consent rather than coercion.
According to the source, the representative stated that these aren’t fresh accusations or new accusers. Instead, they involve the same people – ex-long-term partners – who had consensual relationships. Their intimate activities were a matter of personal choice and agreement, not compulsion.
The trial for Combs begins on May 12, but given the fresh indictment, there might be additional delays. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for April 25, during which the defense may contest certain aspects of the new filing and request more time to ready their case.
In addition, prosecutors are requesting the court to maintain confidentiality for the witnesses who will testify, as they fear potential harassment and risk to their safety. The embattled music executive is currently dealing with numerous civil lawsuits, one of which is a well-known claim by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, whose accusations of abuse have been referenced in the criminal proceedings.
In the face of increasing legal scrutiny, Sean “Diddy” Combs maintains his innocence and has previously accused authorities of using outdated laws and alleged instances of racism as a means to undermine his career and lifestyle.
