Val Kilmer’s Kids Pay Heartfelt Tribute to Top Gun Actor Following His Death at 65: ‘Honored to See His Legacy Celebrated’

Val Kilmer’s children, Mercedes and Jack, expressed a touching tribute to the late Top Gun actor, following his death at 65 due to pneumonia. The movie star had two children with his former wife, Joanne Whalley. In their statement, they acknowledged feeling proud of the way their father’s legacy has been commemorated. They requested space for a private grieving process during this difficult time.

In a statement to People Magazine, Mercedes and Jack expressed their pride in their late father, Val Kilmer, who passed away on Tuesday as previously announced by his daughter. Later in the evening, they were captured in a photograph receiving comfort from each other.

Besides Mercedes, Mercedes’ father was equally present on the film screen in the 2020 movie titled “Paydirt.” During a memorable conversation with Good Morning America, the actress expressed her excitement about portraying Kilmer’s character as his on-screen daughter within that film.

She expressed her feelings by saying, “I feel incredibly honored to have been part of this movie and to have contributed to its production. It’s not just because my father is my real dad, but because this project features a lead actor with a disability, something that resonates deeply with me given my own vocal impairment. Being involved in a film like this, which puts a spotlight on disabled actors, holds a special significance for me.

As reported by sources, both Jack’s and Kilmer’s older children are arranging their father’s funeral at this time.

Previously, it was reported by TMZ that the actor known for his role in Tombstone had been admitted to the hospital at the start of this year. Before his passing, Val Kilmer had a long battle with throat cancer, which ultimately resulted in him losing his voice following surgery.

Tributes have been pouring in for Val Kilmer from the celebrities of the industry.
