Halle Berry has definitively dismissed speculation about her reprising her legendary role as Storm in the upcoming Marvel movie “Avengers: Doomsday.” Although some of her “X-Men” castmates are slated to come back, Berry has stated unequivocally that she won’t be one of them.
The speculation arose following Marvel Studios’ announcement of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, which included actors like Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast) reprising their roles. However, the studio suggested that more names might be added later, but Berry has categorically ruled out her participation.
Regarding the speculations, Berry communicated to Black Girl Nerds that viewers should not get their hopes too high, expressing “Just keep waiting. It’s not going to materialize.” Her non-appearance in the film has left fans feeling let down as they had anticipated her portrayal of Storm using her powers once more.
Halle Berry initially portrayed Storm in the 2000 live-action X-Men movie, and she continued in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Although she’s had a lengthy association with the character, Berry has decided to relinquish her role, while actresses like Stewart and Grammer have already been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
On May 1, 2026, the highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday movie is scheduled for release. Unfortunately, fans must accept that although numerous cherished mutants are making a comeback, Storm will not be one of them.
