EA Sports has revealed that EA Sports FC and Madden NFL will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Although gamers are curious about whether these games will equal their counterparts on PlayStation and Xbox, EA has indicated they’ll include comparable features “depending on what the hardware can accommodate.”
“EA Sports expressed enthusiasm about introducing not one but two of their popular series – EA SPORTS FC and Madden NFL – on Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch 2. This move aims to offer gamers additional options to enjoy their favorite sports, no matter where they are or when.”
The business has verified that these editions are tailored exclusively for the upcoming Switch 2, though they haven’t disclosed if they will offer all the advanced features of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions or if they will be more like the “Legacy Editions” seen on the initial Nintendo Switch.
EA Sports has not yet revealed all the details about how Madden NFL and FIFA will look on the Switch 2, but they aim to provide a similar gameplay experience across different platforms, depending on the capabilities of each system.
It’s uncertain whether the games for the potential Switch 2 will match exactly with those on PlayStation and Xbox, or if there will be crossplay functionality. Additionally, it’s not yet clear if any more EA Sports games will be released for the upcoming console.
Previously, EA Sports unveiled “Legacy Edition” adaptations of FIFA (now EA Sports FC) for the original Nintendo Switch. These iterations came with fewer features and merely offered roster updates without significant gameplay enhancements. Yet, the Switch version of FC 25 last year presented a more comprehensive gaming experience, sparking anticipation that the Switch 2 editions might align more closely to the full console gaming experience.
Although it’s yet undetermined whether the Switch 2 versions will match all the features of their PlayStation and Xbox equivalents, EA Sports hints at an improved gaming experience compared to previous Legacy Editions. Patients will need further updates in the upcoming months for full clarification.
