- April is a busy month for Xbox, making it unlikely for the Oblivion remake to drop quietly.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest buzz that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake might drop this very week! This game, almost two decades young now, has always held a special place in my heart as one of the crown jewels in Bethesda’s epic fantasy series. First gracing our screens back in 2006, during the early days of the Xbox 360 era, Oblivion paved the way for more of Bethesda’s enchanting RPGs to grace consoles.
There has been a lot of chatter recently about the possibility of a remake for “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” potentially coming out this year. This speculation started when the “Oblivion” remake was accidentally disclosed in 2023, appearing in court documents concerning Xbox vs FTC Activision, which also revealed details about several upcoming Bethesda games and hinted at some of Xbox’s future hardware strategies. The whispers about the “Oblivion” remake have grown stronger in recent times, with some reliable sources suggesting that the game may be launched as early as this Spring.
There’s been a buzz on Twitter suggesting that the remake of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” might be launching this coming Thursday, April 3rd. Detective Seeds, who posted the rumor, claims to have an iffy source and hints that it could potentially release next week as well. This has sparked discussions among fans about a possible ‘shadow drop’ or the possibility of an official announcement this week, with a summer release date to follow. However, it’s important to note that neither Bethesda nor Xbox have confirmed these rumors.
Oblivion Remake Rumored to Release This Week
As a devoted Xbox fan, April seems like an action-packed month for me! With Compulsion Games’ southern gothic adventure, “South of Midnight,” dropping next week on the 8th and the turn-based RPG “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” joining Game Pass on the 24th, it’s a veritable gaming feast. Plus, as Detective Seeds hinted, we’ve got two high-profile PlayStation 5 ports coming in April – “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” on the 16th, and “Forza Horizon 5” on the 29th. With such a jam-packed lineup, it’s hard to imagine Xbox would also unveil the long-awaited “Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” remake this month. Given the exciting releases lined up in May and June, I think the summer months, perhaps June or July, could be a more fitting time for the “Oblivion” remake, considering the current openness of those seasons.
Fans of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” should stay tuned to Xbox and Bethesda’s social media platforms in the coming weeks and beyond, as there’s a possibility that Detective Seeds’ rumor might turn out to be true. Regarding the future of the series, although “The Elder Scrolls 6” is under active development, it may take another year or more before Bethesda is ready to unveil fresh details about the game. Some enthusiasts speculate that the RPG creators might reveal something this summer, possibly during Xbox’s yet-to-be-confirmed June event.
