In a recent press statement, Hulu announced that Hank and Peggy Hill have retired and are back in Arlen after spending many years working abroad in Saudi Arabia. They are now experiencing a changed town as they settle into their golden years. Meanwhile, Bobby, who is now 21, is thriving in his adult life as a chef in Dallas while he enjoys his twenties alongside his old classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

It turns out that Bobby has taken up the role of a chef at an innovative eatery that combines German, sushi, and robata-grill cuisines. Unfortunately for Hank, this restaurant does not utilize propane as its cooking fuel.

According to Pamela Adlon, who continues to voice the character, he’s becoming more focused and somewhat resembles his father in character now.

At the ATX Television Festival held in May 2025, creator Mike Judge discussed the challenges Hank has faced since his return to town. He elaborated on the significant changes that have occurred in Arlen since Hank’s last appearance and expressed how short-tempered Hank has become towards these alterations.

Judge mentioned that Hank seemed to appreciate the conservative dress code among women in Saudi Arabia,” said IndieWire. “Upon his return, he found bike lanes, scooter lanes, and many other changes over the last 15 years – changes which would likely frustrate Hank.

Judge also said that aging the characters is what really made the revival click for him.

He mentioned that since the show is so down-to-earth and authentic, it seemed fitting for the characters to be portrayed as older.

It’s uncertain why the Hills returned to Arlen or if Dale truly took over as mayor, as suggested at the start. However, one thing is certain – King of the Hill is returning with its distinctive, quirky humor that initially won fans over.
