Total War: Warhammer 3 – Tides of Torment release date delayed

Instead of releasing Tides of Torment, the newest DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, Creative Assembly has decided to postpone it. The initial plan was to launch it at an unspecified date during summer, but now, fans will have to wait a bit longer as its release has been shifted to “later in the year.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share with you all that, during our rigorous internal testing, the quality of this DLC didn’t quite match up to the exceptional standards we’ve set with our previous expansions. We’re truly sorry for any disappointment this may cause and are committed to delivering content that lives up to your expectations in the future.

The developer went on to explain, “We realize that it’s indeed feasible, and we’re eager to dedicate more effort towards refining it. This includes re-evaluating the content, enhancing the gameplay, and making it an even better experience as promised. Unfortunately, this might cause adjustments in the information we previously provided about Slaanesh and Norsca in our ‘What’s Next’ videos. As soon as we have a clear understanding of these changes, we’ll make sure to update you directly in the final ‘What’s Next’ video, ensuring you have a comprehensive view of the third faction in this DLC and the modifications to other factions.

It’s been verified that Sea Lord Aislinn is set to be the third Epic Character in the expansion, introducing the High Elves as his allies. They will team up with Dechala’s Daemons of Slaanesh and Sayl’s Norsemen.

CA admitted that the pace of development for Total War: Warhammer has been slower than anticipated by its fans, and they need to improve in terms of transparency.

Instead of offering an olive branch, the company disclosed its plans for upcoming free updates in the game, starting with enhancements to siege gameplay set for public testing in July. In August, Update 6.3 will roll out significant alterations to the Tomb Kings and Lizardmen as part of ongoing race revamps. The Greenskins are due for another update too, aiming to modernize their characters.

Beyond this, the creator hinted at their plans to introduce characters into the game that don’t typically fall under their DLC scheme. “We’re figuring out how these would align with our work schedules,” they suggested, “but we have a strong notion for who the initial one might be, and she holds a special place in your family tree.” CA playfully alluded to Neferata, adding, “The following year, we’ll come back with one of the largest Total War: Warhammer expansion packs ever produced within the trilogy, along with some complimentary content. A portion of this will be unveiled ahead of time during this year’s 25th anniversary presentation.

The 25th anniversary showcase is also where the next Total War games will be announced.
