Noah Centineo Reacts to The Recruit’s Abrupt Cancelation After Season 2; Says Netflix Has a ‘Certain Mandate’

Actor Noah Centineo recently commented on the unexpected ending of “The Recruit” after its second season. On March 27th, he attended the debut of his latest movie, Warfare. The launch of this new project followed closely on the heels of the surprising termination of his Netflix show.

At the red carpet event, Centineo spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about Netflix’s choice to end production on their action-drama series. “It’s just how it is,” he said. “Netflix has a specific mission they must fulfill,” the actor from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before explained further.

Despite the series only running for two seasons, he took pride in the team’s accomplishments and the devoted fanbase that developed. Centineo stated that the show didn’t align with the streaming platform’s specifications, suggesting it was time for everyone to look forward.

In the movie, “The Recruit,” the protagonist, Owen Hendricks (Centineo), is a CIA operative who finds himself caught up in a large-scale global dispute when one of his contacts attempts to reveal their connection to the agency.

Talking directly into the camera, the actor reminisced about working on the action-drama series. Centineo detailed how he gained significant insights during the filming of seasons one and two, particularly in understanding the backstage workings and artistic methods involved in producing a TV show.

For Centineo, the most enlightening aspect of the entire experience was discovering how a show is produced. He further mentioned that working with an outstanding cast made the whole process even more enjoyable. The show featured talents like Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, and several others.

Centineo’s latest movie, titled “Warfare,” produced by A24, unfolds in the backdrop of Iraq. It is an action-packed narrative that focuses on a team of Navy SEALs as they embark on a perilous mission. The story of war is narrated through their recollections of the event, emphasizing the strong bond between them amidst the turmoil and conflict.

Warfare is set for release on April 18, 2025. You can stream the first two seasons of The Recruit on Netflix right now.
