X user Worm on X thinks it’s Paul and is none too happy.

The account stated, ‘It’s definitely him – the new Venom is Paul.’ I may end up causing harm to someone.

The account followed up with more tweets revealing their huge disappointment.

The account exclaimed, ‘I’ve rarely felt this enraged before,’ implying that he would take drastic action if anyone were to purchase the comic, even dedicated variant collectors, hinting at a potential new issue.

User Worm went on to say, “I’d like to clarify that I’m not really furious; I’m just exaggerating for a laugh. However, I am worried. It seems Marvel editorial is deliberately trapping Venom comics in a modern ASM-like predicament. It’s your call, but I’d strongly suggest against purchasing this comic.

The user stated, “Editorial needs to understand that the continuous pattern of inciting rage among fans by dangling the prospect of an old team-up returning, similar to what’s been happening with Spider-Man for several years, won’t work for symbiote comics. I hope this fails.

Initially, Paul seemed enshrouded in obscurity and intrigue, leaving fans puzzled due to his scant background and sudden prominence. However, as the story unfolded, it became clear that he was the offspring of Benjamin Rabin, a nefarious character linked to Mayan mysticism, and had been imprisoned in a nightmarish dimension resembling hell alongside MJ. In this alternate reality, they nurtured two children, who were eventually unmasked as illusions crafted by Rabin.

Fans saw Paul as symbolizing editorial meddling in the Spider-Man storyline, as he was another instance of Peter Parker and MJ being separated against the wishes of readers. This has been a recurring theme since the “One More Day” storyline removed their marriage from the narrative. Instead of finding him as a well-developed character, fans considered Paul to be a superficial plot device, which led to widespread discontent and numerous memes ridiculing his presence in the comics.
