Is it possible that a live-action adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda” could be one of the most eagerly awaited live-action video game movies in history? It seems like fans have been yearning for a “The Legend of Zelda” movie since time immemorial. Given that the first “The Legend of Zelda” movie came out in 1986, I’d wager that fans have dreamt about a live-action version for even longer than that. And now, after all these years, a live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie is on its way, and not only is it real, but it even has a confirmed release date: March 26, 2027. That’s the official word.
How do we know?
Nintendo has officially announced the release date for the upcoming live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie through its new app, Nintendo Today. At this point, we know that Avi Arad will be producing the film and Wes Ball will take on directing duties. The project will be jointly financed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Nintendo. As of now, there have been no casting announcements, story details, or much other information released about the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie.

Previously, Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Zelda, mentioned his involvement in a live-action movie adaptation: “I’ve been collaborating on The Legend of Zelda film with Avi Arad for quite some time now. Avi has produced numerous successful films, and I asked him to produce this one as well. We’ve begun the production process officially, with Nintendo heavily involved, and I’m excited to say that we’re working together on it. It’s going to take a while to finish, but I’m eager for you all to see it when it’s done.
We’re really excited about seeing it, especially since we now have the release date for the Zelda adaptation.
