Are you having trouble locating the blacksmith in The First Berserker: Khazan? You might have already gathered some scrolls allowing you to create new armor sets at the blacksmith, but he seems to be missing. If you’ve taken a closer look around The Crevice hub area, you should have noticed a forge downstairs where this character usually stays.
If you’re accustomed to soulslike games, you’ll likely recognize the habit of needing to discover and free the blacksmith by exploring various locations in the game world, often finding them imprisoned or guarded by tough enemies—and The First Berserker: Khazan follows this pattern. Here’s a guide on how to free the blacksmith in The First Berserker: Khazan, along with tips on where to find scrolls for new armor sets.
In soulslike games, it’s common to have to hunt down and release the blacksmith by exploring different areas of the game world, usually finding them locked up in a cell or guarded by a powerful foe—The First Berserker: Khazan follows this trend. Here you can find instructions on how to free the blacksmith and where to discover scrolls for new armor sets in The First Berserker: Khazan.
The First Berserker: Khazan blacksmith location
After finishing “The Strange Smell” mission, which leads you into Skoffa Cave and the spider’s lair, you’ll encounter Qazumaka, the blacksmith. Defeating the Aratra boss enables you to free him, and he then accompanies you back to The Crevice’s realistic version. In a room below the main courtyard, he establishes his forge.
Unfortunately, you haven’t reached the point yet where you can access his blacksmithing services directly. To do so, take on the Blacksmith’s Heirloom mission from Qazumaka. Once completed, defeat the Bearius boss to obtain the Blacksmith’s Heirloom Hammer. After that, return to Qazumaka and you’ll be able to use him for dismantling equipment and crafting new gear using the scrolls you’ve collected.
Where to find scrolls
As a gamer, I usually stumble upon new armor set scrolls by vanquishing formidable foes, which are special upgraded versions of regular tough enemies. These powerful opponents are typically encountered during the main storyline. You’ll recognize them when the screen starts to dim and shroud in fog, signaling you’re close. Defeat the elite enemy to claim the scroll or search the area for a chest or item they were safeguarding.
Additionally, you can acquire scrolls by successfully completing optional missions, which often involve defeating bosses. For instance, the boss you defeated for the blacksmith, Bearius, is a prime example and rewards you with the Slayer Scroll necessary for crafting that specific set. To create new armor and weapons, you will require resources. These can be found either by opening rare chests during missions or by disassembling equipment of the desired rarity for crafting.
