John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits to Reprise Their Roles in Michael C Hall’s Dexter: Resurrection; Details Inside

John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits are re-entering the Dexter realm. In Showtime’s forthcoming series, Dexter: Resurrection, Lithgow will reprise his role as the infamous Trinity Killer, while Smits will return as Miguel Prado, seeking vengeance. Production for the show has been ongoing in New York since January, with the aim of broadening and enriching the constantly changing Dexter universe even more.

In the series “Dexter: New Blood,” Lithgow’s chilling portrayal of Arthur Mitchell, aka the Trinity Killer, has made a posthumous appearance through flashbacks, but the spin-off “Resurrection” suggests a more extensive delving into his character. Meanwhile, Smits, who was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Miguel Prado, the Assistant District Attorney turned vigilante, is making a comeback to the franchise since Season 3 of Dexter. A younger version of his character was recently depicted by Nick Santucci in “Dexter: Original Sin.

The upcoming series is led by Dexter’s longtime director, Clyde Phillips, with Michael C. Hall once again portraying the main character, the serial killer known as Dexter. Familiar characters making a comeback include David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan.

I’m thrilled to share that our ensemble is expanding with fresh talent! Uma Thurman joins us as Charley, Peter Dinklage takes on the role of Leon Prater, and Krysten Ritter will bring Mia Lapierre to life. Additionally, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian have joined us in undisclosed roles. The fantastic news is that our previous installment, Dexter: Original Sin, ended triumphantly, with its finale garnering a 27% viewership increase over the premiere. This surge of interest has only fueled our anticipation for Resurrection!

The creation of Dexter: Resurrection is handled by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall, Clyde Phillips, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns are the executive producers for this project. Monica Raymund will be responsible for directing four episodes, while Marcos Siega takes charge of six. The series is scheduled to air this coming summer season.

Under the revival of Lithgow and Smits in their signature roles, “Dexter: Resurrection” promises an exhilarating extension of the series. Be it through nostalgic flashbacks or surprising plot turns, the comeback of these iconic figures guarantees that Dexter’s saga remains unfinished. Anticipate further mysteries, increased character insights, and a more intense exploration into the ominous past that still torments Miami’s notorious antihero.
