As reported by Variety, this series serves as a prequel, delving into the events that took place before Jason Voorhees transformed into the infamous machete-wielding villain. In the original ‘Friday the 13th’ film from 1980, Pamela Voorhees isn’t simply a secondary character; instead, she’s the main instigator of the gruesome events at Camp Crystal Lake. Her actions stem from deep sorrow over her son Jason’s death by drowning, and she directs her anguish towards the counselors whom she believes are responsible for his demise.
The low-budget movie, which only cost $550,000 to produce, surprisingly grossed nearly $60 million at the box office, initiating a series of eleven subsequent films ranging from ‘Jason X’ to the 2009 remake.
