Sydney Sweeney is broadening her presence in the Hollywood industry, not just acting but also venturing into production. The star of “Euphoria” and “Anyone But You” is slated to take on both leading and producing roles for the upcoming thriller movie titled “I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl,” which will be distributed by Warner Bros. This film is an adaptation of a short story written by Joe Cote, initially popularized on Reddit, and it will be penned by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth, known for his work on “Forrest Gump” and “Dune.
The storyline centers around a wandering character who impersonates a missing girl to trick and steal from the family – unaware that he’s made a terrible blunder. This intriguing tale is being brought to life under Sweeney’s production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, in collaboration with Roy Lee, Steven Schneider of Vertigo, as well as Trevor Engelson and Aaron Folbe from Underground.
Sweeney has been gaining recognition for her role as a hands-on producer in various projects. She served as an executive producer on “Anyone But You,” which earned over $220 million worldwide, and she also spearheaded the production of “Immaculate,” a horror thriller that debuted at SXSW.
Apart from playing a missing girl in her previous work, Sweeney is also working on two other projects: “Scandalous!”, where she takes on the role of Hollywood legend Kim Novak, and David Michôd’s upcoming biopic about boxing champion Christy Martin. Furthermore, she holds an executive producer position for “The Housemaid”, a production where she acts alongside Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.
In the upcoming Apple TV+ series, “Echo Valley,” I can hardly contain my excitement as I eagerly await the arrival of Sweeney! Starring alongside heavyweights like Julianne Moore, Kyle MacLachlan, and Domhnall Gleeson, this thriller promises to be a rollercoaster ride that I simply cannot miss.
In her new role as a missing girl in a psychological thriller, Sweeney solidifies her position as a formidable force in Hollywood. Skillfully juggling significant acting assignments with daring production projects, she promises yet another fearless and captivating performance for audiences to marvel at.
