New York City, often referred to as a city of dreams, offers limitless possibilities. If you can succeed in this bustling metropolis, known as the Big Apple, then you can achieve success anywhere. Although I’ve moved past the famous phrases, they remain relevant in most circumstances, even in post-apocalyptic situations like those depicted in The Walking Dead: Dead City’s season two trailer. In the trailer, various villains are competing to reclaim the city and further their individual goals.
Among those returning are Negan, wielding a fresh version of his bat Lucille, and Maggie, reentering the city for further adventures. Additionally, Hershel is increasingly involved – let’s hope he’s not spending too much time acting like an overly dramatic teenager.
We rejoin our antagonists from the previous season, The Croat and his superior, The Dama. They aim to revitalize the city and impose order using force. This restoration includes resurrecting the city’s electricity by harnessing energy from repurposed walker corpses, which emit a significant amount of gas. Although it may seem unpalatable, their strategy is logical under the circumstances. Their project might not be entirely implausible given the events we witnessed at the Civic Republic in The Ones Who Live.

However, dealing with Brugel, being a gang leader in NYC, will undoubtedly be challenging, given his peculiar appearance that resembles a founding father. He appears to be troublesome for everyone. On the other hand, Maggie is associated with Pearlie and the New Babylon Federation, who aspire to revamp Manhattan differently. Moreover, she aims to bring The Dama to justice for causing harm to Herschel in the previous season. Negan finds himself entangled with The Croat and The Dama, but it seems he’s growing fond of wielding power once more.
I must admit, in the trailer for “Dead City,” he’s convincingly portraying his character. There’s definitely something more to his reaction when he sees Maggie again – it’s not just a simple greeting. Interestingly enough, it seems that Maggie and Negan are preparing to join forces against the established power. Frankly, this unexpected alliance is a twist that even the most devoted “Walking Dead” fans wouldn’t have anticipated. The second season of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” premieres on AMC and AMC+ on May 4.
