The Netflix miniseries titled “Adolescence” has become one of the latest successes on the platform. Beyond its engaging cast and compelling storyline, actress Erin Doherty recently expressed her gratitude for being involved in the series and shed light on its distinctive single-take filming technique.

For those unfamiliar, every episode in the newly released Netflix mini-series is filmed as a single continuous take. In this show, Doherty plays the character of Briony, who works as a child psychologist.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Crown actress, Doherty, described the project as “truly awe-inspiring.” She elaborated on her experience filming a single, continuous shot sequence: “However, it wasn’t as intimidating as it might seem. In truth, I was experiencing the perfect realization of my dreams.

During a chat about her experience filming A Thousand Blows, Erin Doherty mentioned she inquired about a conversation with co-star Stephen Graham as they neared the end of the series. Graham then revealed to her that Adolescence was the topic and it was being penned by Jack Thorne.

Addressing the media, Doherty expressed, “I had a feeling they would attempt the one-shot approach. To me, it sounded like an actor’s ideal scenario.

After discovering more about Adolescence, the passionate actress expressed excitement about its potential realization. Having just completed filming that part, she reminisced on a moment where it felt like a dream come true.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Erin Doherty shared her belief that she had just seen something extraordinary take shape. Looking back on a past discussion with the crew about the single-take sequence in Reawakening, Doherty pointed out that at the time, the scene hadn’t even been scripted yet.

Doherty found it almost unbelievable to see the start of this thing and then have others watch it too. It’s like a dream.

If you’re not familiar, the narrative in “Adolescence” revolves around Jamie, a 13-year-old character portrayed by Owen Cooper, who finds himself under suspicion for the tragic incident of stabbing a fellow student to death at his school.
