“It just straight up doesn’t look good”: Monster Hunter Wilds Could Look Better With One QoL Change but Capcom Won’t Budge

The game “Monster Hunter Wilds” was launched to much fanfare, offering players a thrilling new journey filled with breathtaking scenery, pulse-pounding battles, and intricate gameplay. Players are immersed in the experience and raving about its impressive graphics and mechanics.

However, there’s one thing that’s bugging the community, literally: a persistent glowing effect on the player’s character model whenever they consume an item or have an active skill. Players have been asking Capcom to remove this glowing effect. Yet, it feels like they are talking to a brick wall.

Monster Hunter Wilds: A great experience with a glaring issue

While the indication that a character is buffed seems like a good idea, the implementation feels unnatural. It would have been a different case if it was some cool effect, but it’s just an unnecessary glow that makes your character stand out awkwardly, ruining the drip.

The main issue? The glowing effect appears every time you use a potion, eat food or trigger certain skills. You light up like a neon sign. Many players find it immersion-breaking, distracting, and downright ugly.

It’s especially frustrating because the game already knows how to turn it off. When you’re in a tent, in a cutscene, or in a conversation, the glowing goes away. So clearly, the effect can be toggled off and the system is already built into the game.

The obvious solution? Just give players also the option to disable it in the settings. But despite complaints since launch, Capcom has refused to provide a simple toggle to disable the glow. Why? No one knows.

But the reality is that players are frustrated and want a change. While PC players have taken the modding route to solve the issue, the console players are still waiting for an official fix.

Capcom needs to address this issue soon

The glowing effect might seem like a minor issue to some, but for many players, it significantly impacts the overall visual experience. Monster Hunter Wilds is a game that prides itself on immersion, with breathtaking environments and detailed monster designs.

Nevertheless, the unusual radiance frequently disrupts the sense of immersion, and it’s persistent presence is noticeable. In the heat of battle, it could be less bothersome, but away from combat, it grows increasingly aggravating.

Since the game already disables the effect in certain situations, adding a simple toggle in the settings should be an easy fix. But hey, ignoring player feedback is good right? No, this could lead to unnecessary frustration, especially when the solution is so straightforward.

Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be one of the best entries in the series, but small frustrations like this can pile up. Capcom has listened to community concerns in the past, and if it wants to maintain the momentum, it should address this problem sooner rather than later.

Until then, fans will have to put up with glowing like a radioactive hunter every time they take a sip of a potion or use certain skills.
