Yellowjackets’ Tragic Turn: Coach Ben’s Heartbreaking Fate Sealed

It’s worth noting that Yellowjackets season three has already passed its midpoint. Even though several questions are yet unanswered, the mystery surrounding a crash survivor is partially resolved in episode six, and it’s an emotionally heavy and tragic turn of events. In the previous installment, Shauna manipulated everyone into convicting Coach Ben of attempted murder, despite Misty’s excellent defense efforts. By the end of this episode, Natalie finds herself in a tough spot after making the agonizing choice to euthanize a struggling Coach Ben in the latest episode of Yellowjackets, but her actions don’t lead to a favorable outcome for her.

Initially, the girls devised a deadly ambush called a one-man shooting team to eliminate Coach Ben. However, when Akilah shared her vision about Coach serving as their pathway home, they opted to spare him. In the latest episode, Shauna and Melissa, her fresh companion, maliciously injure him, ensuring he can’t break free from his outdoor confinement. This time around, Coach Ben pleads with Natalie to end his life, suggesting that this existence is unbearable. This contrasts with his earlier pleas for survival before the failed firing squad incident. It seems he has given up and somehow sensed that there was no escape route in this dire predicament.

Natalie disregards his entreaties and adheres to the group’s decision for some time. Eventually, she reaches her limit, seizes a knife, and slaughters him with his consent. The sight is gruesome. To be frank, I wish she had spared Coach Ben and given him the freedom to decide whether he wished to end his life in the woods on his own terms. As dawn arrives and they uncover her deeds, Misty brands her a murderer, while Shauna is furious.

In simpler words: Natalie doesn’t listen when he asks for help, instead following the group’s choice for a while. Later, she gets fed up, grabs a knife, and kills him with his approval. It’s a horrific scene. Honestly, I wish she had let Coach Ben decide if he wanted to commit suicide in the woods. When they find out what Natalie did, Misty calls her a murderer, and Shauna is angry.

1. They took away her leadership role, making Shauna their new leader instead. This decision, however, seems puzzling given that:

a) Shauna appears to be mentally unstable.
b) She doesn’t share the community’s respect for the traditions of the Wilderness. In fact, she’s known to be volatile and quick-tempered, capable of violence at any moment.

2. It’s understandable that they might be upset with Natalie due to their loyalty towards Akilah’s vision, but appointing Shauna as leader in this case… it’s an interesting choice.

In summary, Shauna has Natalie ready Coach Ben for a meal, leading to a chilling howl-fest until disrupted by two strangers. One of the newcomers shrieks upon discovering Coach’s head on a spike. Whether they are real or imagined is uncertain, but if genuine, these intruders should flee swiftly, as these girls actually consume human flesh.

In the gripping series Yellowjackets, it’s not surprising that I found myself witnessing Coach Ben’s untimely demise in the wilderness. His loss of a limb and subsequent loss of authority as a guiding presence took a toll on him, leaving him vulnerable. The harsh environment and unpredictable dynamics of our group inevitably led to his downfall – perhaps by someone seeking retribution or those he had wronged. In time, the unbearable hardships and trauma he endured left him yearning for an end. Rest in peace, Ben.
