A Sequel to “USS Callister”
For the very first time, a Black Mirror episode will extend a prior narrative. Creator Charlie Brooker has confirmed that Season 7 will feature a sequel to “USS Callister,” the thought-provoking dark satire from Season 4 delving into power and control in a virtual world. The original cast is back for this next installment of the story.
What Brooker Says About Season 7
In my perspective, Brooker labels this season as reminiscent of the early days of “Black Mirror.” Each of the six episodes delve into sci-fi concepts, encompassing a variety of moods: some unsettling, some humorous, and some deeply emotional. Interestingly, two episodes will be full-length features. Moreover, he points out that despite the presence of dark themes, they’re not presented in a traditional horror movie manner.
Booker shared with Netflix’s Tudum that many aspects of the series are being simplified. All the stories included are science fiction, and while there may be frightening events, they aren’t necessarily presented like a traditional horror movie. However, there is some unsettling content in the series.
