David Dastmalchian Lands Guest Role in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

Exciting news about ‘Dexter: Resurrection’! Showtime has announced that David Dastmalchian will join the cast as a guest star character named Gareth. If his name rings a bell, it might be because you recognize him from movies like ‘The Dark Knight’ or ‘Oppenheimer’. His chilling portrayals in those films are a testament to his acting skills!

The series is set to reintroduce Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the enigmatic serial killer who keeps audiences hooked. Filming began in New York City as early as January 2025, with plans for a summer release on Paramount+ and Showtime. Clyde Phillips, a well-known figure from the early ‘Dexter’ era, is not only directing but also producing the show, alongside Hall and other talented individuals such as Scott Reynolds and Tony Hernandez.

David Dastmalchian is set to appear in the upcoming production titled ‘DEXTER’S RETURN’.

The star-studded cast also includes Michael C. Hall, Peter Dinklage, Eric Stonestreet, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, David Zayas, Jack Alcott and James Remar.

Currently, our talented ensemble is shaping up nicely. Familiar faces such as David Zayas portraying Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, and James Remar as Harry Morgan will be back. Joining them are fresh additions like Uma Thurman playing Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, and Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, to mention a few. Additionally, there are several guest stars making appearances, including Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, and Eric Stonestreet. Although we don’t know much about the character Gareth at this point, with Dastmalchian taking on the role, I have high expectations for an impactful performance.

This project carries significant importance here. Marcos Siega is overseeing six episodes, while Monica Raymund takes charge of four. Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios are the main producers, and Paramount Global Content Distribution will release it. The series serves as a continuation of ‘Dexter: New Blood’ from 2021, distinct from the prequel ‘Dexter: Original Sin’, which was launched in 2024.

Recently, Dastmalchian has been quite occupied. His projects ‘Murderbot’ are set to premiere on Apple TV+ in May, followed by ‘Life of Chuck’ hitting the screens in June. He seems to be all over the place with appearances in ‘The Suicide Squad’, ‘Dune’, and ‘Late Night with the Devil’. The recent casting news for Showtime about him has piqued my interest as to how Gareth will fit into Dexter’s world. I can hardly wait for summer to arrive.
