Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner: The Jerk Who Thinks He Can Take on Superman!

Actor Nathan Fillion discusses his role as Green Lantern Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman” film, where the characterization is inspired by the zanier version of Guy Gardner from the ’80s DC Comics.

From a cinephile’s perspective, Fillion’s portrayal of Guy Gardner seems strikingly different from the Lanterns DCU series featuring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. Rumor has it that our beloved Fillion will grace us with his performance, which promises an intriguing interplay of characters, to put it mildly.

‘What does Nathan Fillion say about Guy Gardner?

In an interview with TV Line, Fillion discusses the unique aspects of his portrayal of Guy Gardner compared to previous versions of Green Lantern. A trivia bit: Fillion has previously played Hal Jordan in various DC animated productions.

He might not be a very nice person, but Guy Gardner makes up for it with his fearlessness – a key quality needed to become a Green Lantern. As an actor portraying him, I find it liberating because I can focus on making the most selfish and self-serving choices in each scene, which is exactly what he does.

Superman vs Green Lantern Guy Gardner

Fillion continues and possibly hints we might see Guy vs the new Man of Steel!

As a die-hard film enthusiast, I’d venture to say there’s a certain ability he possesses that borders on audacity – the unshakable belief that he could square off against the Man of Steel. Unfortunately for him, that confidence might be his kryptonite, because let’s face it, he doesn’t stand a chance!
