Renowned chef Richard Corrigan, famous for preparing meals for the British Royal Family, has voiced his opinions about Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix production titled “With Love, Meghan.” This Irish culinary expert expressed a lack of interest in the show and offered some constructive criticism regarding its presentation.
As an ardent admirer, I’ll openly confess I gave “With Love, Meghan” a watch, but it strikes me as somewhat overly grand. The air of pretension leaves me cold. You see, I’m just not fond of this pretense. California, with its Hollywood vibe, seems to blend into one homogeneous scene. Fortunately, Britain is far from that monotony.
At the Murphia List 2025 occasion held in Marylebone, commemorating successful Irish hospitality figures prior to St. Patrick’s Day, Corrigan – the proprietor of Mayfair eateries Bentley’s and Corrigan’s – shared his insights.
In addition, Corrigan discussed how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be affecting King Charles III, who is undergoing cancer treatment at present. He drew a parallel between the couple and Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, another American divorcee. Notably, Edward gave up his throne in 1936 to wed Simpson.
Corrigan expressed that he believes no one appreciates individuals exploiting television for cheap purposes. If someone decides to step away from royal duties, he suggested they should invest in a comfortable home, socialize, and have fun, rather than becoming a drain on resources.
He expressed understanding towards King Charles, pointing out that it is not within a parent’s control who their children choose to wed, and that each child must forge their own journey through life.
Previously, Corrigan expressed his feelings of disapproval towards Meghan Markle’s behavior. At the gathering, he reminisced about his time working with the Royal Family, highlighting an instance where he prepared meals for the Queen without any payment.
He mentioned that although he’d be happy to prepare a meal for anyone, certain individuals would need to cover the cost. Asked about inviting Meghan to his eatery, he expressed that he’d be open to her visit but made clear that unlike the Queen, she wouldn’t get any special royal treatment.
Last week, Meghan’s Netflix series was launched, marking a part of the Sussexes’ rumored £85 million agreement with the streaming service. In this show, the duchess demonstrates various activities like cooking, tending to gardens, and offering insights into her lifestyle.
To be completely honest, even as an ardent admirer, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment upon learning that certain scenes weren’t shot at the Sussexes’ Montecito residence, but instead at a rented £6 million farmhouse. It’s a bit like discovering that my favorite band didn’t actually play every song live on their latest tour, but used backing tracks in some instances. Still, I remain hopeful and excited about the series as a whole!
