The news was verified by Kim Barry, his agent at Jaffrey Management, who announced it through a statement saying, “Today I mourn not just a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a dear friend of mine for the past 15 years.
Barry went on to recall that he’d always remember the moment when he extended the role of Dorium Maldovar in BBC’s Doctor Who to Fisher-Becker over a phone conversation.
Simon Fisher-Becker, born on November 25th, 1961, was a versatile British actor who excelled both on stage and in television productions. He gained considerable fame for his hilarious portrayals and memorable characters within the comedic genre. Among his most recognized roles is Tony Fazackerly from the BBC series Puppy Love.
Apart from his notable portrayal as Simon “The Fat Friar” in the first installment of the Harry Potter films, The Philosopher’s Stone, and his appearance as Dorium Maldovar across seasons 5 and 6 of Doctor Who, Simon Fisher-Becker is also recognized for these roles.
On his Facebook page, Simon Fisher-Becker’s spouse posted a touching note, “Greetings all. This is Tony, Simon’s partner. I regretfully share that at 2:50 this afternoon, Simon took his final breath.
His spouse added that they planned to keep the account of Simon Fisher-Becker active for a few more days, but weren’t certain whether they would use it on social media again.
