As a devoted admirer, I’ve been deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. Initially, the circumstances surrounding their deaths were shrouded in mystery, but recent reports from authorities have shed light on events that are nothing short of startling.
According to reports, Betsy Arakawa sadly lost her life due to the hantavirus, a flu-like illness associated with rodents. Meanwhile, Gene Hackman is said to have passed away a week later, as reported by PEOPLE.
On March 7th, authorities disclosed the tragic news of a beloved couple’s passing. They shared that the esteemed actor succumbed to a complex mix of severe heart disease, high blood pressure, and advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease. I am deeply saddened by this loss.
Additional information indicates that he remained in the house for several days following his spouse’s death. New Mexico’s leading medical examiner, Heather Jarrell, verified that Betsy Arakawa succumbed to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a condition triggered by the hantavirus.
The virus under discussion spreads to humans by means of rodent urine, as well as their saliva or waste matter. According to Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza, the latest known contact Betsy had was through an email, which occurred on February 11.
Moving forward, my records indicate that Gene’s pacemaker last registered activity on the 17th of February, 2025. The findings also imply that Mr. Hackman didn’t have any food in his system at the time of his passing, which occurred on the 18th of February, 2025. Sadly, the family’s dog, Zinna, was discovered deceased; the results of the autopsy are still pending. However, their remaining two dogs were found safe and well.
Betsy Arakawa was 65 at the time of her death, while Gene Hackman was 95.
