White Lotus Season 3: Jason Isaacs Recalls ‘Insane’ Advice of Cop on His Alleged Stalker; Reveals Why Authority Didn’t Take Him Seriously

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of alcohol addiction and substance abuse.

Jason Isaacs shared a past experience when he felt harassed by an alleged stalker, but his concerns weren’t fully addressed by the authorities. In an interview with i Paper, the actor from White Lostus season 3 discussed his long-term encounter with a person who persistently followed him since 1998.

He expressed that he had been extremely fearful his home might be set on fire or he could get stabbed. However, since his stalker turned out to be a young woman, the police initially thought she was a jilted lover from his past. She was apprehended outside his house, accidentally released, and eventually reappeared at his residence.

Isaac shared that the police offered him some unconventional guidance on handling his stalker, including a suggestion to physically incapacitate her by knocking her unconscious. He found the law enforcement ineffective since they persistently maintained that he was involved romantically with the woman who was stalking him.

As a lifestyle expert, I find an interesting parallel between Isaac’s tale and the narrative of Baby Reindeer, a connection that struck the actor as well. The Emmy-winning Netflix series, loosely based on Richard Gadd’s real-life experiences, seemed remarkably relatable for the Peter Pan actor, touching on aspects of his own life.

In the show, Donny, played by Gadd, is battling a psychotic stalker, yet due to insufficient evidence, the police treat him with disrespect. “I wish I’d made a movie about it instead. While Baby Reindeer might be a bit over-dramatic, it’s not too far off,” Isaacs commented.

During that period, the actor faced quite a challenging stretch in life. Apart from being haunted by a stalker, he also struggled with alcohol and substance abuse. However, by the time he reached 35, he had managed to overcome his addiction. Interestingly, it was only in 2020 that he chose to disclose his battle with addiction publicly.

At present, he’s portraying the role of Timothy Ratcliff, a businessman, in season 3 of the popular HBO show White Lotus. His character is under intense scrutiny by reporters, who are probing into his financial past due to a scandal involving his former business partner, Kenny.

White Lotus season three is available to stream on Max.
