King Charles Curates Special Apple Music Playlist for Commonwealth Day

To celebrate Commonwealth Day on March 10th, King Charles III has put together an exclusive playlist for Apple Music called “The King’s Music Room.” This unique collection showcases musicians hailing from the 56 countries within the Commonwealth, demonstrating the powerful unifying force of music.

In a video message sent from his office at Buckingham Palace, King Charles himself shared a collection of songs, reminiscing about the significant impact that music has had on him throughout his life.

He expressed that music holds significant value in his life’s journey. It possesses a unique power to trigger cherished memories, provide solace during hardships, and transport us to far-off lands. Yet, its most profound impact might be the ability to uplift our moods and bring us immense joy.

This playlist covers a broad range of decades and styles, featuring iconic musicians like Bob Marley and Grace Jones from Jamaica, Kylie Minogue hailing from Australia, and tracks that date as far back as the 1930s. It also includes selections of disco and Afrobeats, showcasing the vibrant musical diversity across the Commonwealth.

In a show of enthusiasm, Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s global head of Content and Editorial, noted her delight about the collaboration, expressing that “Apple Music Radio is a global hub for cultural moments, and we feel privileged that King Charles III decided to make his personal playlist available to us and music enthusiasts worldwide.

Beginning March 10, 1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, the playlist from the King’s Music Room will be accessible for free on Apple Music 1. Those with subscriptions can enjoy listening to it whenever they want on-demand as well.
