As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but keep my eyes glued to Netflix, as they’ve managed to ignite my excitement with the announcement of an exhilarating spin-off series for Extraction. The upcoming TV show, derived from the action-packed film franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, has just received its official title from the head content officer.
During the unveiling of Netflix’s latest release, The Electric State, it was disclosed by Angela Russo-Otstot, AGBO’s Head of Content, that the upcoming spin-off series would be titled Mercenary.
As a devoted follower, I couldn’t be more excited to share that we’ve received the go-ahead for a new series titled Mercenary, set within the ‘Extraction’ universe and featuring the talented Omar Sy. This news has me buzzing! (Angela Russo-Otstot stated to The Direct)
During the course of the interview, Russo-Otstot added that the upcoming series will delve deeper into various topics previously presented in the movie franchise, offering diverse viewpoints on a single mission.
She also pointed out that the show promises to be an intriguing venture by the streaming platform, since it delves into diverse mercenaries, each with their own “loyalties and objectives.” These characters will find themselves in situations where they must make choices that could potentially benefit or harm others.
It’s important to note that the thrilling announcement about this project was made by Netflix earlier in the year. What makes it even more intriguing is that Sy, not Chris Hemsworth, has been chosen to star in the series.
According to the steamer, Omar Sy finds himself caught among conflicted groups and merciless assassins. This time around, his high-stakes operations will unfold within the landscape of Libya.
If you’re excited about the latest captivating updates, Netflix announced that the spin-off series of Extraction, titled Mercenary, will consist of eight engaging episodes. Known for his exceptional work on The Walking Dead, Glen Mazzara will be taking charge as the showrunner. Additionally, Sam Hargrave, the director of Extraction, will serve as an executive producer for this upcoming series.
The series in question will begin filming in September.
