Paul Wesley, a prominent figure hailing from the hugely successful supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries,” has expressed his opinions about a plotline that he feels shouldn’t have been included in the series.
In a recent Hot Ones Versus segment, Wesley was queried about “a plot idea that, in his opinion, shouldn’t have progressed past the writers’ brainstorming session.
During a conversation with his previous castmate Ian Somerhalder, Wesley reminisced about our beloved series that aired from 2009 to 2017, where he portrayed Stefan Salvatore as one of its main characters.
Following Nina Dobrev’s departure from the series after season six, it was decided that Stefan should be paired with a romantic partner. Eventually, Stefan and Caroline (played by Candice King) had a wedding and got married, as the actor who portrays the History of Evil character confirmed.
To this, Somerhalder expressed, “It felt a bit contrived, but it was adorable,” an opinion that Wesley shared as well.
To clarify for anyone unfamiliar, the show “The Vampire Diaries” was primarily focused on a romantic entanglement featuring Stefan (portrayed by Paul Wesley), Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev), and Damon Salvatore (performed by Ian Somerhalder).
As the series unfolded its captivating narratives and passionate love stories, Stefan, portrayed by Wesley, eventually found himself with Caroline. Their relationship evolved from friendship to romance over time, and in an emotional twist, they got married at the end of Season 8. Tragically, this significant milestone occurred only a few episodes prior to Stefan’s demise.
It’s worth mentioning that Steroline, a nickname for the romantic bond between Stefan and Caroline, had to contend with formidable rivalry from Delena, the beloved duo consisting of Elena and Damon.
Additionally, another cherished duo from the widely praised series The Vampire Diaries was Caroline and Klaus Mikaelson, portrayed by Joseph Morgan. Often referred to as “Klaroline,” this couple became the favorite of numerous dedicated fans.
