In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, the native bat-bird creature known as the Dapperwing is hidden within the Scarlet Forest. Due to their camouflaged feathers, these elusive avian creatures can be hard to locate amidst the forest’s bustling activity. However, their melodious chirping could serve as a clue to help you find them. Here are some suggested spots where you might increase your chances of catching a Dapperwing swiftly:
1. The heart of the Scarlet Forest – This area is particularly dense with life and may provide ample opportunities for spotting the Dapperwing.
2. Near water sources – These creatures often frequent areas near rivers or ponds, so keep an eye out for them around these locations.
3. Early morning or late evening – The Dapperwing is more active during dawn and dusk when they are more likely to be seen or heard.
4. Listen for their chirping – Their distinctive song can serve as a helpful guide in locating the elusive Dapperwing.
How to catch a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Dapperwings are commonly spotted throughout the Scarlet Forest. Notably, a specific path connecting Areas 13 and 17, known as Area 14, is a frequently visited spot to find these creatures. You have two primary routes to access this path:
- Wudwud Hideout in Area 14: Fast travel to the hideout then head uphill towards Area 17 and you’re bound to see several Dapperwings perched on the twisted tree branches and shrubs.
- Great Lake Shore pop-up camp in Area 17: This automatically unlocks after the Uth Duna fight. Fast travel here then head down the ruined path towards Area 14 and you should come across many Dapperwings perched on the ruins and branches.
You’re searching for a tiny bird-creature that resembles a bat, having a face and large, black eyes. During Fallow, they turn green and are hard to spot due to blending in, but males become more vibrantly colored during Plenty. Upon finding one, prepare the net, target the Dapperwing, ensuring the aiming area turns orange (it’s helpful to slightly adjust the center of the rectangle above your target Dapperwing). Fortunately, Dapperwings don’t appear to be easily frightened, so there’s no need to worry about them flying away when you approach closely.
