After a significant announcement in February, CBS has decided to end both “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted.” Despite this, a third spinoff titled “FBI: CIA” is still being developed. As previously scheduled, the original FBI title will continue through the 2026-2027 season on CBS.
In 2018, Dick Wolf and Craig Turk, a veteran from The Good Wife, debuted the initial episode of their series, followed by its spin-off series’ premiere in 2019.
Last month, the showrunner had good cause to worry about the future of the series when the network only renewed its drama shows excluding those in the FBI franchise and S.W.A.T. However, following fan backlash against this decision, CBS eventually brought S.W.A.T. back onto our screens.
Presently, the fourth season of FBI: International is airing, whereas FBI: Most Wanted is currently in its sixth season.
Moreover, following its run of 14 years, the network also debuted Blue Bloods, featuring Tom Selleck. Disappointed by this move, the actor from Friends expressed, “If one were to tell a television network, ‘Here’s a show you can air in the least favorable time slot possible, and it will ensure your dominance on Friday nights for the next 15 years,’ it would be hard to convince anyone of its validity.
Fans of the police drama are stunned by its cancellation, given that it consistently attracted viewers on Tuesday evenings on CBS. Additionally, the crossover episodes between the two series were highly popular.
Further details on the third spinoff of the franchise will be rolled out by the makers soon.
