The eagerly awaited first issue of the comic book battle, “Godzilla vs Hulk #1“, is due in stores on April 16th. This unique release pits two iconic characters against each other: the Monster King and Hulk. Readers are promised an exciting journey as the narrative unfurls, featuring a team of extraordinary individuals known as the Thunderbolts, sketched by talented artist Giuseppe Camuncoli. The writer, Gerry Duggan, has shared insights on what we can anticipate from this titanic showdown.
Duggan’s affection for both Godzilla and Hulk dates back to early days. He vividly recalls watching Godzilla on television during baseball game rain breaks, and his cherished plaything as a child was the Hulk Rage Cage.
Currently, penning this comic serves as a realization of his childhood aspirations. As stated by Duggan, this collaboration is unusual since both characters possess almost invincible qualities. However, in this tale, neither Godzilla nor Hulk pose the greatest dangers. Rather, fans will be taken aback by what unfolds subsequently, according to Duggan.
Regarding Godzilla’s depiction, Duggan envisions a scenario where this beast could ravage a city, yet it would halt in front of a theater blasting David Bowie tunes. This aspect of Godzilla reveals the monster as not merely a symbol of devastation, but something more complex and intriguing.
In contrast to his humorous approach in titles such as Deadpool, Duggan assures us that Godzilla vs. Hulk will veer away from comedy. Instead, this tale delves into a darker realm, with mature characters like Dr. Demonicus taking center stage. The focus is less on humor and more on the intense action and destructive chaos resulting from these colossal beings colliding.

Speaking of his unique Godzilla memorabilia, Duggan reminisced about some exciting experiences. He’s visited the Godzilla hotel in Shinjuku, Japan on numerous occasions, and each trip has allowed him to acquire special, exclusive pieces.
However, his most precious recollections revolve around a more intimate sphere – sharing Godzilla movies with his father initially, and then passing on that tradition to his own son. For Duggan, the bond with the colossal creature transcends comic books and playthings.
Get ready for a wild ride when Godzilla vs. Hulk #1 lands next month.
