In simpler terms, Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s newest open-world game, developed using the RE Engine. Similar to Dragon’s Dogma 2, it faces some technical challenges, and it uses a technique called upscaling to maintain a steady frame rate, whether you play on PC or console.
In simpler terms, when you’re playing Monster Hunter Wilds on PC at a resolution like 1080p, the image may become less clear automatically. However, luckily, there are methods to enhance the overall clarity of the game and minimize blur.
NVIDIA RTX Users: Update DLSS to 4
If you’re using an NVIDIA RTX GPU (regardless of the model), we strongly suggest updating your DLSS version to the most recent transformer model (DLSS 4). This upgrade will enhance image quality noticeably and minimize the blurring that occurs due to TAA. Here’s a demonstration comparing the new DLSS version, which is effective even at lower resolutions like 1080p.

Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t come with this feature yet, but we anticipate it will be included in a future software upgrade.
Increase the Internal Resolution
If your graphics card has enough processing power, you can boost the internal resolution of Monster Hunter Wilds to enhance its visual clarity. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t offer native DSR/DLDSR support on PC, so you’ll need to adjust this setting manually. Keep in mind that this option may not be available if you have upscaling turned off.
- First, disable upscaling to unlock the Render Scaling slider.
- Now, set it to something like 125% or 150% and save the setting. You can go for 200% as well if you want, but that will essentially double the resolution.

- Keep in mind that this will have a performance cost as you’re essentially increasing the resolution by a percentage.
- Now, with the value increased, you can turn on upscaling and frame generation back again. Whether you’re using DLSS, FSR, or XeSS, the resolution scale value will work in tandem with these.
Disable Motion Blur and Depth of Field
I’d suggest adjusting your settings based on personal taste, but I strongly advise disabling both Motion Blur and Depth of Field. You can find these options in the third column of the graphics settings, as even the game screenshot demonstrates a certain amount of blur to illustrate its effect on the overall visuals.

NVIDIA Users: Use DLAA
In summary, should your system be capable, opt for DLAA over the Quality preset. While it’s resource-intensive, it provides superior visual sharpness and better image quality compared to the other presets.

In a similar fashion, both FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) and XeSS (Extreme Scalability Super Sampling) provide a “Native Quality” preset option. This particular setting outperforms one of the alternative upscaling presets in terms of picture clarity.
By implementing a mix of these proposals, you can significantly enhance the picture sharpness across all scenes in Monster Hunter Wilds, and minimize any blurring issues. If your graphics card has ample VRAM, it might be worth downloading the “Ultra High Definition Texture Package” for an even more detailed gaming experience.
