In a new development, six recurring actors have been announced for Peacock’s upcoming mystery comedy series “The Burbs,” headlined by Keke Palmer. These include Haley Joel Osment, RJ Cyler, Justin Kirk, Kyrie McAlpin, Danielle Kennedy, and Randy Oglesby, as reported by Variety. The show is adapted from the 1989 film of the same title, which originally starred Tom Hanks.
Here are some new cast members: Haley Joel Osment (from The Sixth Sense), RJ Cyler (The Harder They Fall), Justin Kirk (Weeds), Kyrie McAlpin (Cheaper by the Dozen), Danielle Kennedy (Narcos), and Randy Oglesby (For All Mankind).
Additionally, they’ve added Keke Palmer, Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar to the already announced cast members.
In a peaceful suburban community, I find myself settling into my spouse’s childhood abode, sharing it with them. However, tranquility is shattered when an enigmatic newcomer takes up residence next door, unearthing old secrets from the shadows and ushering in fresh perils that threaten to alter our lives forever.
Celeste Hughey, recognized for her work on Dead to Me and High Fidelity, is penning the series and holds the position of executive producer. Alongside Hughey, other executive producers include Keke Palmer, Rachel Shukert, and Nzingha Stewart, who will take charge of directing the initial episode.
In simpler terms, Brian Grazer – known for producing the initial 1989 movie – is involved in this venture too. For this new production, Kristen Zolner and Natalie Berkus will take on the roles of producers for Imagine Entertainment.
Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson are serving as producers for their company, Fuzzy Door, which has a multi-project agreement with Universal Content Productions. Dana Olsen, who wrote the initial movie, will be involved as a co-executive producer.
Filming for “The Burbs” sequel will be done at Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, which is the same spot where the original film was previously recorded. The 1989 movie, helmed by Joe Dante, was a humorous yet eerie tale about suburban residents who became convinced that their new neighbors were concealing a mysterious and ominous secret.
