As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that the latest Prime Video series, titled “House of David,” retells the biblical tale of young David—the shepherd who bravely conquers Goliath and eventually ascends the throne of Israel. This captivating production is deeply rooted in the early accounts of 1 Samuel and incorporates several of David’s famous Psalms, making it a must-watch for anyone with an interest in this timeless story.

The executive producers, Jon Gunn and Jon Erwin, have shared that the upcoming series primarily revolves around the themes of David’s faith, poetry, and music. Currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video are the first three episodes, featuring a blend of fresh talents and established actors within the cast.

Michael Iskander portrays David, a youthful shepherd, who leans on his belief in God to achieve the seemingly unattainable, as reported by The Wrap. Crucial to the narrative is his transformation from a musician, to a warrior, and ultimately, a king.

Ali Suliman portrays King Saul, the initial ruler of ancient Israel, selected by the prophet Samuel. Although Saul demonstrates a formidable leadership style, he grapples with shadows as he endeavors to safeguard his family and dominion. Notably, Suliman has made a name for himself in notable films such as The Kingdom and Lone Survivor.

Martyn Ford takes on the role of Goliath, the formidable Philistine warrior who confronts Israel’s top fighter, in this series. Here, Goliath is depicted as a fierce and dedicated soldier with strong family and comradeship ties. Previously, Ford has been featured in Final Score, F9: The Fast Saga, and The Machine.

In the story, Stephen Lang assumes the character of Samuel, the prophet who initially anoints Saul as king but eventually casts a spell on him. Samuel is portrayed as a mystical visionary, not hesitating to wield his powers when necessary. Lang is most recognized for his performance as Colonel Miles Quaritch in Avatar and has also appeared in Don’t Breathe and Manhunter.

Ayelet Zurer assumes the character of Queen Ahinoam, the secretive wife of King Saul, whose influence on his decisions is subtle yet significant. In times of turmoil, such as when Saul encounters Samuel’s prophecy of doom, she seeks counsel from mysterious soothsayers. Known for her roles in films like Man of Steel, Munich, Vantage Point, and Angels & Demons, Zurer will bring this complex character to life.

In a more casual tone, we can say: Indy Lewis portrays Michal, the child of Saul and Ahinoam, who finds herself drawn to David due to his gift for poetry and music. You might recognize Lewis from her roles in La Fortuna and the HBO show, Industry.

In a new role, Alexander Uloom takes on the character of Achish, a Philistine king who is resolute in his aim to unite his people and vanquish the Israelites. This complex figure is shown as a shrewd diplomat with a quick temper. Moreover, Uloom will appear in the forthcoming movie titled Sari & Amira.
