Unraveling the intricacies of Artian weapon construction in Monster Hunter Wilds plays a significant role during the endgame, especially for those seeking their ultimate weapon by carefully gathering weapon components and relying on divine fortune. Similar to the afflicted weapons in Sunbreak, there is an aspect of randomness to Artian weapon crafting, which is certain to captivate any hunter eager to optimize their equipment setup.
As you progress through High Rank, you’ll discover a multi-layered, intricate system. Here’s a breakdown of creating Artian weapons, enhancing your supply of weapon components, and fortifying the weapons you create for additional perks:
1. Crafting Artian Weapons: Learn the process of constructing these powerful weapons.
2. Acquiring More Weapon Parts: Find ways to amass more components for crafting even more Artian weapons.
3. Reinforcing Crafted Weapons: Tips on strengthening your crafted weapons for additional benefits.
How to craft Artian weapons
At HR (Hunter Rank) 20, following your battle with the enhanced Lala Barina and Guardian Fulgur Anjanath, you gain access to the ability to craft Artian weapons. To commence this new venture, simply approach Gemma the smith and choose the “Forge Artian Weapons” option from her menu.
Starting from now, in addition to regular hunts, you can conquer Tempered beasts as well, yielding pieces for crafting Arzhen weapons. Similar to decorative gems, these assessment items are unpredictable and appear only after every quest is completed.
Though each weapon requires three specific parts, there are four you can get overall:
- Broken Blade
- Cracked Disc
- Crushed Tube
- Rusted Device
Each part you receive also has:
- Rarity 6, 7, or 8 (higher rarity weapons have higher base stats and gem slots)
- Element type (fire, water, thunder, ice, dragon, blast, sleep, paralysis)
- Artian bonus (attack or affinity)
When creating a weapon, you must ensure that the weapon parts share the same rarity level. Additionally, at least two parts with matching elements are required for crafting a weapon of that specific element. The Artian bonus from these components will also impact the final product, and you can view a preview of the outcome on the screen’s right side during the crafting process.
How about we run a scenario: I’m planning to create an insect-like weapon called a Glaive, which induces paralysis rather than dealing raw damage. I have a preference for critical hits over sheer power. Fortunately, I’ve obtained three items – a Damaged Sword (Broken Blade), a Crushed Tube, and a Rusted Gadget, all of which have a paralytic effect and an affinity bonus for Artians. Since I only require two of these components to make it a paralyzing Glaive, the third one will provide additional elemental advantages, so I might as well incorporate that too.
As a game enthusiast, I’ve got a tip for anyone looking to create an Artian weapon: You don’t need complicated recipes! Just mix together any three unique elements, and voila – you’ve got yourself a pure physical weapon.
How to get Artian weapon parts
The most effective method for acquiring Artian weapon components is tracking down and defeating Tempered monsters. These creatures roam randomly throughout each region, and once you defeat one, you can save it to re-encounter in the future. To do this, visit Alma at the quest counter, navigate to Field Survey History, and spend some Guild Points to save any desired Tempered monster hunts. Alternatively, you can initiate Tempered monster hunts directly from the region map overview by selecting them.
Each hunt can be attempted three times, making it beneficial to save those with a high chance of rare weapon components. You can inspect a Tempered monster on the map or in your Field Survey History for its rarity regarding weapon parts. In the Bonus Rewards section, look for the question mark icons next to the weapon part symbols; if they’re dark red, it signifies you’ll receive rarity 8 components, which can be used to craft the top-tier Artian weapon version.
At HR 34, you’ll gain the ability to combine weapon components at the Melding Pot in Suja. To do this, you’ll need a specific item called Wyverian Bloodstone. You can obtain this by damaging the luminescent wounds that appear when you fight Tempered monsters, typically by targeting a marked section of the monster that differs slightly from its regular counterpart in design. Additionally, any excess Arzinian weapon parts you don’t intend to use can be utilized as melding material.
How to upgrade Artian weapons
Here’s how I might rephrase that in a first-person perspective as a fan:
“It’s here that the Random Number Generator (RNG) plays its part. As you enhance your Artian weapons, they can level up to a maximum of five times. With each upgrade, there’s an element of surprise as one of the following reinforcement bonuses is randomly bestowed upon it.
- +5 Attack Boost
- +5 Affinity Boost
- +20 Element Boost
- + Weapon sharpness
To strengthen your Artian weapons, you require the unique ore materials obtained from Festival Shares at the Smelting Foundry in Everforge. You can either talk to Roqul or get them through Nata at your camp. Once you defeat the higher-rank Jin Dahaad, you’ll gain the ability to break down monster parts into more of this ore. To do this, locate Roqul again, but this time at the Foundry in the Oilwell Basin base camp.
The first two rarities of Artian weapons aren’t too costly to reinforce, but the rarity 8 versions are quite pricey. Top-tier Artian weapons demand 3,000 points per level of reinforcement, which is equivalent to fully upgrading them with 50 Oricalcite. However, a crucial point to remember is that when you dismantle an Artian weapon, you get the reinforcement materials back. This means you don’t have to create 50 new Oricalcite for each Artian weapon you wish to upgrade.
