My Lady Jane Scrapped After First Season by Amazon Prime Video; Details Inside

Amazon Prime Video‘s latest release, Lady Jane, had just come out, but unfortunately, they’ve decided to discontinue the series, despite garnering the affection and support from its viewers.

Following the premiere of its first season, I’ve learned that our cherished series has been canceled, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This unfortunate news arrives just over seven weeks since Amazon Prime Video graced us with their enchanting drama series, which seamlessly blended reality with a hint of fantasy.

For the uninitiated, the show “My Lady Jane” is inspired by a novel written by three authors: Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows. It’s set in the vibrant, historical backdrop of 16th-century England.

In the realm I frequent, stories abound of a place where humans and magical beings known as shifters dwell together harmoniously. What sets these beings apart is their extraordinary ability to transform themselves into human forms or even into various animal shapes.

In this extraordinary world, Jane Grey, portrayed by Emily Bader, is just an ordinary person. She is sometimes called a unique individual, or simply put, a ‘verity’.

In the show, the character Bader gradually develops empathy for the shapeshifters, who are depicted as oppressed and referred to as Ethians. Jane Grey’s affection for these beings causes complications for the ruling class as she climbs the social ladder, gaining power.

Additionally to Emily Bader, the show highlights the skills of actors such as Edward Bluemel, Rob Brydon, Dominic Cooper, and Anna Chancellor. The series also features Jordan Peters, Kate O’Flynn, Henry Ashton, and Jim Broadbent as part of its impressive cast.

The show becomes even more intense due to the narration by Ollie Chris and Bader. ‘My Lady Jane’ was developed by Gemma Burgess, and Meredith Glynn shares the role of co-showrunner with her. Together, Burgess and Glynn serve as executive producers for the series, along with director Jamie Babbit, Sarah Bradshaw, and Laurie MacDonald.
