In this new season, we’ll be welcoming back several beloved characters. Zendaya takes up her character Rue once more, accompanied by Hunter Schafer as Jules, Eric Dane as Cal, Jacob Elordi as Nate, and Sydney Sweeney as Cassie. Alexa Demie (Maddy), Maude Apatow (Lexi), and Martha Kelly (Laurie) are all set to make their return, with the latter now holding a permanent role in the series. Chloe Cherry (Faye) has been elevated to a main cast member as well.

Colman Domingo, who clinched an Emmy for his portrayal of Ali, will be back as a recurring character, while Dominic Fike has been confirmed to reappear too. Moreover, several fresh faces have joined the cast, including Rosalía (a Grammy winner), Marshawn Lynch (a Super Bowl champion), and actors Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, and Anna Van Patten. In an unexpected twist, Sharon Stone is also set to make a cameo.

In the upcoming seasons, some characters from past episodes won’t make a comeback. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, has parted ways with the show due to artistic disagreements. Similarly, Angus Cloud, portraying Fezco, passed away in 2023, creating a significant gap in the series. Javon “Wanna” Walton’s character Ashtray was written off at the end of Season 2, while Storm Reid (Gia), Algee Smith (McKay), Nika King (Rue’s mother Leslie), and Austin Abrams (Ethan) also won’t be reprising their roles.

In a fresh twist for Season 3, the storyline is set to leap forward in time, leaving our characters behind their high school days. Comprising eight episodes, this season might mark the end of the series, as suggested by HBO’s Head of Drama Francesca Orsi. Once again, Sam Levinson, the brainchild of Euphoria, will be at the helm, taking on his duties as writer, director, and executive producer in collaboration with A24.

The show continues to be one of HBO’s most successful productions, collecting 25 Emmy nominations and taking home nine awards, among them two for Zendaya as Best Drama Actress and one for Colman Domingo as Best Guest Actor. Additionally, Levinson received a Directors Guild Award for his work on the Season 2 episode titled “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.
