For several months now, there’s been a lot of talk about whether Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman will be integrated into James Gunn’s revised DC Universe. Given that The Batman Part 2 is still years off and The Brave and the Bold hasn’t revealed its main character yet, fans have been eager for some clarity. At last, Gunn has spoken up about these rumors.
At a recent press gathering on the Warner Bros. lot, Collider’s Steve Weintraub inquired about Pattinson’s potential role as Batman in the DC Universe from Gunn and DC Studios co-head Peter Safran. In response, Gunn made it clear, saying, “It’s not the intention, no. It’s just not the plan.” Safran concurred, expressing that while they admire Pattinson, their focus lies in introducing a new Batman to the DCU, emphasizing its necessity and confirming that this is indeed the current plan for ‘Brave and the Bold’.
As a lifestyle expert diving into the world of cinema, I’m excited to share that this choice aligns perfectly with Gunn and Safran’s vision for a unified universe, avoiding the perplexity of multiple Batmen co-existing at once. The Pattinson portrayal, under the direction of Matt Reeves, is set in a standalone Gotham city, flourishing independently from the broader shared superhero realm. Simultaneously, Andy Muschietti’s (The Flash) production, titled “The Brave and the Bold,” will present a fresh take on the Caped Crusader.
Regardless of its independent status outside the DC Universe, The Batman has proven to be an extraordinary success. The movie garnered widespread praise from critics, with a 85% approval rating, and audiences, boasting a 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes. With global earnings amounting to $772 million, this figure is nearly quadruple its production cost of $200 million, resulting in a significant financial triumph for Warner Bros.
Looking ahead, “The Batman Part 2” is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027, while “The Brave and the Bold” is yet to announce its launch date. Exciting times are coming for Batman enthusiasts as they eagerly await further developments in both storylines of Gotham City. Keep an eye out for additional updates!
