Upon concluding the main storyline at Trosky, you’ll venture into Kuttenberg territory, filled with fresh side missions to explore. One of the more elusive side quests is titled “Under the Straw Hat“. Here’s a guide on how to initiate and complete this specific side quest.

How to start Under the Straw Hat in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, you’ll discover a side mission named “Under the Straw Hat” once you surpass the main city of Kuttenberg. To locate this quest, leave Kuttenberg via the northern exit and continue northward. Beyond a few intersections, you’ll find a vineyard marked by a cross outside it. The precise map coordinates are shown in the image above.

Prior to embarking on “Under the Straw Hat”, make sure you’ve fulfilled the two necessary preconditions as this quest can easily be missed if not completed first.

  • You will need to have started and completed the Speak of the Devil main quest.
  • You will need to start the In Vino Veritas side quest.

Discussing the Devil is the primary mission in the Kuttenberg region, which you initiate following the completion of the Finger of God and Trosky storylines with Jan Zizka. Once you’ve wrapped up this mission, make your way to Kuttenberg and engage Casper Rudolf, who will set you on the path for In Vino Veritas, a side quest that later develops into Under the Straw Hat.

Initially, locate the book named “Sir Bushek’s Winemaker Insights” from Adleta, who is situated in the garden. If you manage to persuade her or offer her five Marigolds, she will pass on the book to you. Once you read it thoroughly, approach Havel, the Tavern Owner. He will be amazed by your understanding and extend an invitation for a wine-tasting gathering.

After finishing this task, pass on the recently acquired details to Casper Rudolf. Subsequently, make your way to the vineyard situated near Kuttenberg and strive to join their ranks. Alternatively, you could secretly infiltrate the vineyard, but be aware that it’s illegal and you may get expelled if discovered. A more advisable approach would be to speak with the recruiter stationed at the southern entrance to apply for a job.

The job under the straw hat starts only after you’ve been offered employment. It is recommended to apply during early morning hours (around 6 am) for optimal success, as the task might encounter problems otherwise.

How to complete Under the Straw Hat in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Since you’ve been officially hired, make sure to identify Administrator Jerome, an older gentleman who usually wears a black ensemble and glasses. Approach him when you spot him, as he will delegate tasks your way. There are two jobs available in the vineyard for you to finish, both of which are crucial for completing this mission.

The initial job involves ensuring that no unwanted plants, such as thistles, are sprouting in the vineyard. To accomplish this, carefully examine the designated areas for any herbs growing in between the crop lines and remove them. This task can be repeated continuously, and you have 12 hours of game time to clear out as many thistles as you wish.

In your current routine, the second chore should be quite routine for you now – gathering bags. Just like the weeds, you’ll notice bags scattered throughout the vineyard. Gather them individually and transport them to a designated spot outside your assigned room in the vineyard. Much like the earlier task, there are no restrictions on how many bags you can gather, so complete your day’s work and then return to Jerome.

Once you reach a particular stage, you’ll be assigned a new task requiring you to gather your earnings. This is when you converse with Administrator Jerome and inform him about all the tasks you’ve completed. Performing this action rewards you with Groschen and finishes Under the Straw Hat, enabling you to proceed with In Vino Veritas until its end.
